Uses Benzyl chloride is an important raw material for the production of benzyl alcohol, cyanobenzyl, phenylacetic acid, diphenhydramine hydrochloride, penicillin, trimethoprim, benzyl acetate, aniline, and butyl benzyl phthalate. These products are widely used in pharmaceutical, dye, pesticide, perfume and other industries, and are important pharmaceutical intermediates.
Hazard category Class 6.1 Drugs
Fire-fighting measures Spray water to keep the fire container cool until the end of the fire.
Extinguishing agent: water mist, foam, dry powder, carbon dioxide
Emergency treatment Skin contact: Take off contaminated clothing and rinse the skin thoroughly with soap and water. Eye contact: Lift the eyelid immediately, rinse thoroughly with plenty of running water or saline for at least 15 minutes, and seek medical attention. Inhalation: quickly leave the scene to a place with fresh air. Keep the airway open. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. If breathing stops, give artificial respiration immediately and seek medical attention. Ingestion: Drink enough warm water, induce vomiting and seek medical attention.
Packaging, storage, transportation Industrial benzyl chloride should be used in polyethylene plastic drums or tank trucks lined with polyethylene, 200-220 kg/drum.
Storage: Store in a cool, ventilated, and dry place, protected from moisture, away from fire, heat and other dangerous goods. Transportation: The benzyl chloride for industrial use should be kept away from fire, rain, sun, and high temperature during transportation, and be handled with care and unloading to ensure that the container does not leak.
